At storytime today, we enjoyed listening to The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson. This lovely story is about a barn owl named Plop, who through a series of adventures and encounters with different characters, overcomes his fear of the dark. Plop learns that the dark is not something to be feared, but rather something beautiful and full of exciting possibilities. As a group, we explored the different feelings and emotions of curiosity and courage and how dark isn't scary and how it can be exciting and kind. 🦉

Thank you to our parents for bringing in all your lovely Autumn treasures. We have had great fun exploring our natural Autumn collection, please do keep bringing items in. We have started making our owls this week and we are in the process of organising a nursery Autumn walk for the children. 🍂🍁🍃
We enjoyed learning all about hedgehogs this week. We learnt that hedgehogs are nocturnal and they have hard spines on their back to protect themselves. We learnt that hedgehogs can’t see very well and we enjoyed closing our eyes and using our senses to hear and smell. Next week we are going to make a hedgehog hotel in the garden, all ready for when a hedgehog needs to keep warm in winter when they hibernate. 🦔
Thank you so much to Daphne and Isabelle's mummy for bringing some crab apples into nursery. We had so much fun today picking the apples from the branches and counting and sorting them. 🍎
This week, we’ve been having fun using different tools to make marks and patterns in the sand. We’ve been focusing on our number sequencing through play and rhymes and we’ve been enjoying lots of outside play.
We’ve all enjoyed a lovely sunny week at nursery, it’s been lovely to be outside enjoying the weather with the children in the nursery garden. Everyone enjoyed getting their hands painty with our new bright and colourful paints. We have enjoyed some lovely new stories, including an Elmer puppet book and The Tiger Who Came To Tea. It’s been lovely welcoming our new families into nursery this week, as our new little ones start their first settling-in sessions with us.
Wishing all our families a lovely summer break, we have enjoyed listening to the children telling us their exciting holiday plans. Thank you so much for our end of term gifts, they really are very much appreciated! We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 20th August. ☀️🏖
