We’ve had a busy and fun half term week at nursery. We made pretend pumpkin pies, soup and colourful potions. We used apples to print pumpkin shapes and we enjoyed making biscuits to take home. We learnt a new song which we all enjoyed singing together. Five Little Pumpkins is a super fun song that teaches emotions vocabulary. The five pumpkins are happy, grumpy, sleepy and sad. But in the end, all of them are happily playing! 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
One little pumpkin smiling, smiling. One little pumpkin smiling, smiling. One little pumpkin smiling, smiling. One little pumpkin is happy. 🎃 Two little pumpkins pouting, pouting. Two little pumpkins pouting, pouting. Two little pumpkins pouting, pouting. Two little pumpkins are grumpy. 🎃 Three little pumpkins yawning, yawning. Three little pumpkins yawning, yawning. Three little pumpkins yawning, yawning. Three little pumpkins are sleepy. 🎃 Four little pumpkins crying, crying. Four little pumpkins crying, crying. Four little pumpkins crying, crying. Four little pumpkins are sad. 🎃 Five little pumpkins laughing, laughing. Five little pumpkins laughing, laughing. Five little pumpkins laughing, laughing. Five little pumpkins are playing. 🎃

We used broccoli 🥦 as a tool to paint different Autumn patterns and leaves. We had fun using the tweezers to pick up the pieces of broccoli and we counted them together. Thank you to our families for the amazing big leaves, Autumn books and hedgehog pictures this week, your support is really appreciated. 🍂🦔🍃
This week, we have been enjoying some early years sensory pumpkin play. As well as being great fun, sensory play can help children develop their language, motor skills, and coordination!
At storytime today, we enjoyed listening to The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson. This lovely story is about a barn owl named Plop, who through a series of adventures and encounters with different characters, overcomes his fear of the dark. Plop learns that the dark is not something to be feared, but rather something beautiful and full of exciting possibilities. As a group, we explored the different feelings and emotions of curiosity and courage and how dark isn't scary and how it can be exciting and kind. 🦉
Thank you to our parents for bringing in all your lovely Autumn treasures. We have had great fun exploring our natural Autumn collection, please do keep bringing items in. We have started making our owls this week and we are in the process of organising a nursery Autumn walk for the children. 🍂🍁🍃
