Monday 19th February - Music and Dance
Everyone was very excited for our music and dance session with Hazel Town this morning. All the children enjoyed playing the musical instruments, including the steel drum and bongos! The children joined in with some fantastic dancing and galloped around the room whilst riding their pretend horses.

Our early learning theme is currently focusing on ‘building and construction’. Construction play can really help extend children’s ideas and imagination. We will be experimenting with a variety of learning materials, providing children with lots of opportunities to explore and discover through play.

Monday 29th January
Everyone at nursery enjoyed their dance session with Bethany this morning. The children used their imagination to make it snow, they built snowmen and danced with colourful scarves in the pretend snow. They then galloped their horses through the snowy fields wearing bells! The children were brilliant with using their imagination and deciding what coloured bells they wanted to wear.

This week we’ve been wrapping up warm and enjoying the winter sunshine. It was exciting playing outside in the light snow showers, we had fun trying to catch the snowflakes and watching them melt.

AUTUMN TERM 2023
Tuesday 19th December:
We celebrated the end of our nursery term with an exciting Christmas party! We all had lots of fun playing Christmas party games, dancing and singing. It was funny eating Christmas tree and star shaped sandwiches. We pulled our crackers and we took our party balloons and headbands home.

Here are some pictures from our fun and festive week at nursery. We enjoyed working together to create a Christmas collage and we made tree decorations to take home. We had great fun playing in the pretend snow! We counted the snowmen and afterwards we tried to make our own snow globe, it was funny trying to find Santa in the glitter water. We’ve enjoyed lots of lovely stories, rhymes and creative activities throughout the week. It’s been great fun seeing all the Christmas jumpers and clothes over the past few days. All the children enjoyed taking their nursery Christmas gift home and next week we will be enjoying some festive treats.

We also made colourful paper chains and Father Christmas tree decorations. We learnt some new Christmas songs and we enjoyed lots of new festive stories and rhymes. It was great fun taking our light wands home and waving them in the dark!

We have been making magic star wands this week. Everyone loved creating their wand and they sparked lots of imaginative play. All the children enjoyed painting and decorating their star and choosing their coloured ribbons.

This week at nursery we enjoyed making pictures using sticker art and the younger children had fun using colourful paints to explore finger painting. We decorated a box to use for our picnic toys, we filled the box up with our blankets and pretend food for our Autumn adventure. We had fun making a cosy den and we played with the soft balls in the big red tent.

We’ve had a fun week enjoying lots of different activities. We all worked together to complete the farmyard puzzle, we’ve been exploring the colourful rainbow rice, we enjoyed lots of different stories, rhymes and painting. We made funny masks and enjoyed chalking and colouring. When it became dark outside it was fun turning on our new twinkle lights.

We’ve had a busy half term week at nursery. We enjoyed making Autumn garlands to take home. We went on a pumpkin hunt and we had fun getting muddy. We enjoyed making a pretend book shop and we chose our favourite book from the shop to read, “We’re Going on a Pumpkin Hunt”. We used the workbench to do some amazing building and we made a surprise picnic for everyone to share.

This week we enjoyed making cookies to take home. We had fun joining in with some number sequencing games. It was fun finding the hidden cookies. When we found all 10, we ordered them into a cookie number line. Next week we are making homemade playdough!

This week we have been enjoying some fun and colourful painting activities, everyone enjoyed getting painty hands. We explored colour mixing and it was exciting making new colours!

Friday 29th September: This week we have been exploring Autumn and we enjoyed looking at different leaves. We had fun painting the leaves and we printed different coloured leaf patterns. We have been enjoying Autumn stories and rhymes and we had fun crunching the leaves up and listening to the different sounds they made.
Friday 22nd September: We have been enjoying some exciting Autumn activities this week at nursery. We’ve been exploring and observing changes in nature and wildlife. We had fun collecting fallen leaves in the garden, we counted the leaves and we looked at their different shapes and colours.
Friday 8th September 2023: Thank you to all our families who sent us pictures of their lovely sunflowers, all the children enjoyed looking at the photos. We created some fantastic sunflowers of our own and we enjoyed decorating the nursery garden with the pictures we made.
SUMMER TERM 2023
August 2023: We have been enjoying learning about different colours. Everyone had a great time joining in with all the sensory and creative play activities. The rainbow sand was enjoyed by all and everyone had fun adding glitter to the coloured sand. We read “Elmer and the Rainbow” and we had fun throwing the coloured Elmer ball when a different colour was said. We learnt lots of different colour songs, including “Colours All Around Us” and the “Mixing Colours Song”.
27/07/2023: We’ve all had lots of fun this week making tie dye T-shirts. Everyone was so excited to see their colourful tie dye patterns that they had created. It was so lovely seeing everyone’s big happy smiles when they wore their T-shirts home.
19/07/2023: We enjoyed making colourful animal masks. It was funny looking at our faces in the mirror.
12/07/2023: We enjoyed making spoon puppets and we had lots of fun finding them in the garden. We enjoyed using our imagination to create adventure stories. Our favourite story we created was “The Giant Blue Sunflower”.
July 2023: We had lots of fun at nursery this week finding different insects! It was funny when a butterfly landed on a little ones arm and we all enjoyed watching the butterfly flap it’s wings and fly off.
June 2023: We made fresh fruit smoothies and we froze them to make smoothie ice pops. We had fun guessing the different flavours and mixing them together. Our favourite flavour was strawberry and banana.

We had a nursery tea party to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles lll. Everyone enjoyed wearing red, white and blue! We enjoyed some lovely games, stories and treats and the children enjoyed taking home a celebration balloon.

25/04/23 - Imaginative play in the garden
We have been making the most of the lovely spring weather! We had fun making pretend ice creams in the garden and it was exciting choosing different flavours. We played with the balls and toys and we enjoyed some stories in the garden.

This morning we’ve been making the most of the lovely spring weather! We had lots of fun running around the garden finding numbered eggs. We then enjoyed getting our hands wet whilst floating daffodils in a bowl of water. We experimented with natural objects that we found in the garden to make a spring potion and it smelt beautiful.

WEDNESDAY 05/04/23 - EASTER ACTIVITIES
We’ve had a fun and busy Easter week at nursery! We found eggs in the garden and we counted how many we found, we then sorted the eggs into colour groups. We all enjoyed a lovely Easter story in the garden and we had fun joining in with sponge painting and making handprint chicks too. Everyone was excited to take home their little Easter bag!

We have been enjoying some spring nature activities this week at nursery. Whilst playing in the nursery garden we looked to see if we could find some signs of spring. We were excited to find some small buds on the bushes and we found little shoots beginning to grow through the ground. We went on a fun colour hunt! 'Can you find a yellow daffodil, can you see the pink blossom? What colour is the sky? Are there any leftover brown leaves to find? What colour is this flower?’We have also been enjoying some lovely spring books and rhymes. Everyone had fun using the finger puppets which helped support children’s communication and literacy skills.

This week we have been celebrating Mother’s Day! We have been talking about all the special people in our lives who help us. Everyone had fun making and decorating salt dough ornaments and pictures to take home. We enjoyed a variety of different stories and activities throughout the week to help support children’s learning and development.

We were all very excited to see the light dusting of snow this morning. There wasn't enough snow to build a snowman, but we can still wrap up warm and have some snowy fun.

WORLD BOOK DAY 02/03/23
We had lots of fun celebrating Work Book day today! All the children and babies enjoyed dressing up. We had fun reading books and playing literacy games.

Pancake Day
We had so much fun today making pancakes! We made a pancake number line, we drew circles in the flour and we had fun making the pancake mixture. We enjoyed eating our pancakes and we talked about the different toppings we chose. We made pretend pancakes in our cafe and we had a pancake race! We learnt a new rhyme and we made a colourful pancake picture to take home
The children have been having fun learning about dinosaurs at nursery. To help support their learning and development and to build upon their interests in dinosaurs, we purchased some lovely new dinosaur, puzzles, games and stories. They especially enjoyed playing with the new dinosaurs and they liked lifting the flaps of our new dinosaur book! Dinosaur lotto was great fun too and the children did so well finding all the matching cards.

We have been continuing our dinosaur topic this week. We had fun making pictures using the dinosaur sponges. We then decorated the table with colourful dinosaurs! We made Valentine plates to take home, we enjoyed making red handprints and we compared the different sizes of everyones hands.

This week we have been on a pre historic adventure! We had fun playing with the dinosaurs and we collected natural materials from the garden to make a dinosaur world. We looked at the different features of the dinosaurs and we counted and sorted them into groups. We hid the dinosaurs in the garden and we went on a dinosaur walk to find them. We then enjoyed giving them a wash and we covered the dinosaurs in bubbles! We enjoyed making colourful pictures using the dinosaur paint stencils.
Autumn Term 2022

We have been spending lots of time in the garden collecting natural materials and using the mud kitchen to create Autumn leaf sandwiches. Everyone had lots of fun using their imagination whilst playing. We all enjoyed getting messy!

This week we had lots of fun making soap foam and playing with it. We collected the hidden numbers in pots and we had fun with number sequencing and finding the hidden treasure in the foam. The children enjoyed using tools to whisk the foam and to spoon it into pots and bowls. We then blew the foam and created little bubbles which was so much fun!

Wednesday 10th August 2022
Our younger children have been keeping nice and cool today by playing on the water mat. They had fun finding the fish and splashing the water. It was a fun activity to help develop hand eye coordination by finding the sea life creatures as well as keeping nice and cool.

Tuesday 9th August 2022 - Butterfly Hunt
Today we went on a butterfly hunt, we had lots of fun finding the butterflies hiding in the garden. We counted them together and we enjoyed looking at their different colours and patterns. The children joined in with repeated refrains, “We’re going on a butterfly hunt, we’re going to find a colourful one. What a beautiful day”.

Friday 5th august 2022 - early years mark making using the outdoor area
All the children enjoyed using the chalk today in the nursery garden. The younger children enjoyed sitting in the tray and making marks, they liked smudging the chalk and feeling the texture of it. When the older children joined in they enjoyed using the chalk to create shapes and patterns, including a beautiful sunshine in the middle of the tray
JULY 2022, LAVENDER AND FLOWER MUD KITCHEN!
The smell from the lavender was amazing! We added purple and white ready mix paint to the water. The children really enjoyed using their imaginations to create lavender potions, lavender cakes and lavender tea!
Our special Christmas story with The Reverend Jane Ball
We were all very pleased to welcome The Reverend Jane Ball to Nursery today. She read the children a lovely Christmas story and the children loved taking part as she engaged them with the characters that she brought with her. We all had a wonderful time and we look forward to welcoming her back in the New Year.

AUTUMN COLOURS
We have been continuing our Autumn learning this week and we have been learning about Autumn colours and colour mixing. The children have made some fantastic Autumn hand print trees and they really enjoyed mixing the colours together and looking at the different colours they could make.

Autumn is a fun time of year for children! Pumpkins are a great way to keep activities based around natural objects and since July we have had lots of fun growing our pumpkin and watching it develop and change shape. We have all been very excited to see our pumpkin start to change colour this week. The children have enjoyed feeling the shiny smooth surface of the pumpkin and they have been using lots of brilliant descriptive vocabulary to describe what they see and feel. The inside of the pumpkin is great resource that can be used for messy play, helping children to explore using all of their senses and learn about a new vegetable.

DINOSAUR FUN!
We have all been on a fun prehistoric adventure this morning with some fantastic dinosaur activities, which have given the children an insight into the life and nature of dinosaurs.
